Who Knew the Listening Post Was Even More

We are approaching the third anniversary of the non-profit entity I co-founded in 2008 called the Listening Post--a space in the downtown Transit Center where we provide a quiet space and listening without judgment or giving advice. After all this time, it only occurred to me now to 'google' Listening Post and see if there were others in the country. The results have made me laugh! Who knew?
A LIstening Post can be:
* an art installation in a London museum of bits of Internet chatter
*a music share site
*a Homeland Security channel
*a programme on Aljazeera
*an initiative to hear from intelligent life in the universe
*a John Hopkins program to help non-profits succeed
*a publication from the Benedictine sisters of New Jersey
*a customer service hotline

In World War II, a listening post, also called a 'sap-head', meant a shallow, narrow, disguised position ahead of the front trench line, or in "No Man's Land" in an attempt for intelligence gathering.

The site most like ours was a program with the same intent of listening without judgment, but their niche was to listen in schools.
I now feel part of something much bigger!
